Life as an English Major

Life as an English Major: Alexander Pope

A reading assigned to use was Alexander Pope’s “The Rape of the Lock”, another satirical mini epic piece.

Let me tell you…I did not like this poem at all! It was so hard to understand….and even through reading it on Sparknotes after I finished it, it still made no sense to me (from a satirical point of view). I hope my TA talks about this, because I seriously need help. If anyone can point me in the right direction in how to view this text, I’d greatly appreciate it!

I did glance through a couple of Pope’s other pieces in my anythology (yes…that is what I do with my life when I’m procrastinating with my other homework). I have to say, my impression of him has slightly changed for the better…but I’m not 100% loving this guy!
